Beyond Nuts & Bolts – How to Make Your College Application Connect

Senior students are nearing the end of the college application process, but it is just around the corner for our underclassmen.  Do you think about how you can help your student?  You have a list of schools. You have tours planned.  How do you help ensure that your child’s application goes to the top of the list?

Join us for a panel discussion focused on making your student’s college application connect. Topics will include how to get the best letters of recommendation, the keys to writing attention grabbing essays and the pros and cons of summer programs.

    Our expert panel includes:

Lesya Bazylewicz -  Academic Success Program – Dallas

As the ASP College Advisor at Woodrow, Ms. Baz helps students to navigate the entire college application process, from building a comprehensive college list to applying for financial aid. With a background in English and creative writing, she also helps students to distinguish themselves in admission and scholarship essays.

Deidra Fisher – One  Up College Consulting

Deidra is a former Woodrow Wilson High School English teacher.  She now works with students to find the best college fit by helping them identify their unique academic and social goals. She holds a B.A. in English Literature from Baylor University and a M.Ed. from Houston Baptist University.

Alex Munoz – SMU Office of Undergraduate Admissions

Alex has been with SMU’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions since 2013.  His responsibilities include recruitment of domestic students from his home state of New Mexico and international students across Southeast Asia.  He also serves as the coordinator for SMU’s IB Scholarship, an annual program awarded to students who complete their IB Diploma.

Jackie Romero – SMU Office of Undergraduate Admissions

Jackie has been with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at SMU since 2015.  She is a native Dallasite, a DISD graduate and SMU alumna.  Her background has led her to have a big focus on local recruitment, working with areas such as DISD, as well as coordinate the Dallas County Mustang Scholars Program.

Please join us on Wednesday February 27 at 6pm. The program will start at 6:30 at Toasted: Coffee & Kitchen. Valet parking provided.
